Thomas V. Taylor, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.R.C.S., F.A.C.G., is the academic chief of surgery and program director at St. Joseph Medical Center in Houston.  Dr. Taylor has spent over twenty years treating obese patients of all ages, economic strata, and ethnic backgrounds.  Throughout his years of practice he has gained broad experience in management of the problems and complications associated with obesity, as well as a host of possible solutions.  Dr. Taylor has written eight books and over two hundred scientific papers.  The author received his medical degree from the Universities of Manchester and Edinburgh in the United Kingdom, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons.  His hobbies include singing with the Houston symphony and sailing.

Deborah Henderson, LPCI
Deborah Henderson, LPCI is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern and earned her Master’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy from Our Lady of the Lake University in 2005.  She has 7 years experience working with a variety of clients through internships where she worked with individuals and families. 

Ms. Henderson has worked extensively with clients with eating disorders, leading groups on self-image, the process of change and relapse prevention.
Claudia Arroyos, R.D.. L.D.
Claudia Arroyos is a Nutritionist and Registered Dietitian (RD) and graduate of Bastyr University in Washington State. After obtaining a Master of Science in Nutrition, Claudia went on to complete her dietetic internship at the University of Houston, where she previously earned a Master of Arts in Sociology.  Ms Arroyos is passionate about nutrition and wellness, and takes a client-centered approach to both.  She believes that good nutrition is the foundation for optimal health, and therefore integrates a whole foods perspective into her practice. Her desire is to inspire healthy eating habits and lifestyle changes that promote optimal health outcomes throughout life, prevent disease, and enhance the overall quality of life, recognizing individual needs and preferences.

Elizabeth G. Garibay, BSIS

Elizabeth Garibay is the president and member of the support staff of Adventures In Wellness and The Doctors Answer Program.  She is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelors of Science in Education and has a passion for teaching and helping people.  During her career, Elizabeth has taught children and adults in public, private, and corporate settings as well as in the medical field.  Her enthusiasm for educating and promoting wellness in the community is also part of her personal life.  Her hobbies include gardening and traveling with family.
